Environmental Assessments
All transportation infrastructure projects in Ontario require either an Individual Environmental Assessment study (many major projects) or a Class Environmental Study (slightly less rigorous) before being implemented. MRC is recognized nationally for its Environmental Assessment (EA) expertise, having carried out hundreds of road and transit individual and Class EAs. MRC prepared the 1992 Provincial Highways Class EA parent document for MTO and the 2000 Municipal Class EA parent document for municipal roads, water, wastewater and transit on behalf of the Municipal Engineers Association and the MOE. MRC updated this class EA document (2007) to include the Transit Class EA process.
Any transportation project which, for a variety of reasons, is under the jurisdiction of the Canadian government requires a Federal environmental assessment.study MRC has a thorough understanding of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (CEAA) requirements and has completed several Federal environmental assessment studies.
